In April, DC Bilingual hosted its last Escuelita session of the school year! This session was called Cultivating High-Impact Teacher Teams, and we welcomed educators from Elsie Whitlow Stokes, Powell Elementary, Washington YuYing, Two Rivers, as well as a group from the Boston Teacher Residency.
On the first day, participants learned about DC Bilingual’s mission, vision, and history. In the afternoon, they explored our school’s approach and used our continuous improvement framework to reflect on and diagnose their own school contexts.
On the second day, educators visited classrooms and engaged with members of the instructional leadership team to learn about co-teaching models and the structure of grade-level teams at DC Bilingual.
On the final day, participants explored the intentional design of our instructional systems, including vertical team meetings, and learned how the school supports career advancement and teacher empowerment through our teacher leadership program. A highlight of the day was a panel discussion featuring DC Bilingual teachers, who generously shared their expertise and experiences.
Each afternoon, participants had dedicated time to apply their learning and develop clear, actionable plans to bring back to their schools.
A heartfelt thank you to the many staff members, teachers, and teams who contributed their time, expertise, and hospitality to make this Escuelita experience possible. Your dedication extends the impact of our work far beyond DC Bilingual and strengthens connections across our broader educational community.
